Augmentin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, including penicillin-resistant strains. It treats infections such as pneumonia, respiratory/gastrointestinal/urinary tract infections, and post-surgical infections.

Take exactly as prescribed, spacing doses evenly. Swallow tablets whole (chew chewable tablets). Dosage depends on infection type, severity, and bacterial susceptibility. Never exceed recommended dose or duration.

Avoid if allergic to penicillin, with liver/kidney disease, or mononucleosis. Not recommended during late pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, liver issues, or allergic reactions (rash, swelling). Rarely causes severe colitis due to C. difficile overgrowth.

Probenecid (gout medication) may increase Augmentin levels. Can disrupt gut bacteria balance.

If you mussed a dose, take next one as soon as remembered unless close to next dose. Never double-dose.

Overdose symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, rash, or drowsiness require immediate medical attention.

In case of overdosage, discontinue medication, treat symptomatically, and institute supportive measures as required.

Keep at 15–30°C (59–86°F), away from light and moisture.
